The Challenge: Overcoming Legacy System Stagnation

The specific challenge for this engagement, known as MPT Crib, was to take a legacy crib operation and transform it into a managed SaaS platform designed to support over 100 corporate client environments. This required modernizing the system to seamlessly handle multiple users, unique site-level operational differences, corporate-controlled devices, and scanner-dependent workflows.
The Solution: A Custom Data Engine and Long-Term Operating Model
To solve these complex operational bottlenecks, ABI and TWP collaborated to develop a Custom Data Engine Website. Rather than delivering a simple, one-off build, the joint engagement matured into a comprehensive, four-year operating model. This long-term approach introduced structured intake, prioritization, quarterly planning, and sustained release delivery to ensure continuous efficiency improvements.
Executed with tight technical governance, the platform features a robust current codebase of approximately 141,224 lines across core source extensions. Operationally, the system was designed so that clients can move faster without having to wait on central teams for every request.

The platform features an inventory management tool that efficiently tracks over 100,000 tools across 100 locations, actively managing $50M in products with real-time visibility and predictive restocking alerts.
Self-Service Workflows & Deep Permissions
An Admin Module manages client and user sign-ups with a deeply customizable, UI-driven permissions hierarchy. It empowers users with self-service workflows for adding net-new operational data and includes secure “login as user” visibility for support validation.
Automated, High-Signal Communication
Workflow automation was designed for scale, sending over 10,000 targeted notifications monthly. This high-signal communication ensures critical operational updates reach the right stakeholders instantly, reducing response times and operational risk.
Hard Data Integrity Controls
The system features robust bulk data import tools with multi-stage validation. Database-level triggers and constraints ensure that all operational data remains consistent and accurate, even during massive scale data migrations or updates.
